Two new posters for The Amazing Spider-Man

Two new posters for The Amazing Spider-Man

The Amazing Spider-Man is really stepping it up in the marketing stakes, with yesterday's four-minute "super preview' followed by the release of a pair of new posters.

The first new one-sheet shows Andrew Garfield as an unmasked Spidey, casting a watchful eye over the New York skyline from a lofty vantage point. The Spider-Man logo shines up from the city lights below, accompanied by the new tagline, "The untold story begins".

Sony's marketing team are really trying to push the idea that this is a new story, separate and different from the one told by Sam Raimi's trilogy. Marc Webb's film will tackle the tale of Peter's missing parents, focusing on how his search for knowledge leads him into contact with Rhys Ifans' Curt Connors.

The second poster offers a similar look at New York's new Spidey-sign, with Spider-Man's fist grabbing hold of a length of web attached to one of those nifty wrist-mounted dispensers, a nice addition to the new suit.

The Amazing Spider-Ma
n opens in the UK on 4 July 2012. In the meantime, you can check out both new posters below...

Prometheus' disjointed advertising campaign continues to veer from spoiler-heavy clips to intriguing specifically made virals.

Thankfully, today's instalment falls into the latter category and is as brilliant as the Ted Talk and David ads that preceded it.

It features Noomi Rapace's scientist Dr. Elizabeth Shaw asking Peter Weyland (Guy Pearce) for financial assistance to secure the services of the Prometheus.

It's our best look yet at Rapace's philosophical and determined Shaw, who deploys a mixture of charm and steely resolution in her attempts to gain Weyland's support.

But she's not the only interesting element of the latest viral - the Yutani company makes its first appearance in the Prometheus universe, via the polygraph device Weyland uses to view Shaw's video message.

Watch the viral to see how Yutani's technology turns a heartfelt plea into a fairly sinister examination, by watching the viral below.

As much as we love this latest creepy piece of viral advertising, we can't help but wish Fox would turn off the promotional tap now - we've seen enough and are more than ready to pay for our ticket to see Prometheus in 3D.

To be honest, we were ready after the first trailer.

Still, not long to wait now - Prometheus opens in UK cinemas on 1 June.

New clip from Ben Wheatley's Sightseers: watch now

New clip from Ben Wheatley's Sightseers: watch now

16-05-2012, 21:44 Post by: suncewap

Sightseers, the new film from Kill List director Ben Wheatley, has debuted a new clip online, in which Steve Oram and Alice Lowe have an argument with a rambler over an errant piece of excrement.

The new film will follow the relationship between a pair of holidaymakers who head to the British countryside for a few days of fresh air, only to find themselves pushed over the edge by a host of unfortunate incidents.

Wheatley has described the film as "lighter" in tone than Kill List (not much of a stretch, to be fair), but there's a nebulous air of tension in the new clip that suggests the abundant laughs (and there are plenty to be had here) will be balanced by something a little darker…

Check out the new clip, below…

Much of the dialogue was improvised by the cast, which would go some way towards explaining the fresh, naturalistic style on display here. As funny as the clip is however, there's something about the whole set-up that creates a definite sense of unease in the viewer. It might not be Kill List, but we're certain Wheatley has a surprise or two in store…

Executive produced by Edgar Wright, Sightseers will be appearing at Cannes as part of the Director's Fortnight strand, with a UK release date set to be confirmed for later in the year.

Idris Elba talks Thor 2

16-05-2012, 21:44 Post by: suncewap

Thor 2 will be retaining the services of Asgardian doorman Heimdall, after Idris Elba confirmed he is all set to return for the next round of Marvel movies.

"Yes, I am," said Elba, when asked by Collider whether he's appearing in Thor 2. "I'm definitely going to do my man in a suit film." That said, Elba is hopeful that he'll have a little more to do this time round than simply standing atop the Bifrost.

"I’d just like to get to know him a bit more," says Elba. "Who is Heimdall? He guards the gate. Okay. Is there anything else? I don’t know what is in the script because I haven’t read it yet.

"The audience has responded to Asgard," he continues, "and wants to know more about who lives there and what it’s about. I’m sure, if they do that, Heimdall will be featured more."

It's shaping up to be a big year for Elba already, with a starring role in Prometheus soon to be followed by filming on Long Walk To Freedom, where he will be playing Nelson Mandela.

"My schedule is so packed this year, to the point where I really don’t have an address anymore," confirms the star. "I’m going to be living on film sets for the next year. My schedule is really packed, but I’m going to do Thor after I play Mandela."

Thor 2 opens in the US on 15 November 2013, with a UK release date to be confirmed.

Man Of Steel scene descriptions arrive online

16-05-2012, 21:44 Post by: suncewap

Man Of Steel is getting closer and closer to teaser trailer territory - we're predicting something will hit July at the latest - and if the below descriptions are to be believed, we're set to see some spectacular stuff in it.

But before we get leave Kansas for the Fortress of Spoilertude, we need to issue a couple of words of warning.

The initial source of the footage descriptions was an IMDb board, which are notorious for being full of the sort of truth-bending that would make Lex Luthor blush.

That said, the poster really does seem to know their stuff, and has since qualified the description with information that makes us think it's valid enough to report.

But, obviously, if you're spoiler-phobic please stop reading... now.

Seriously, if you carry on reading there's a very real chance you'll have your first experience of watching Man Of Steel spoiled, as you'll know to expect stuff like slo-mo in a Zack Snyder film, and cool stuff in a movie Chris Nolan's involved with.

Still here? Then read on. We're pretty sure you'll be as excited as we are by the following...

"Last night at a VFX conference there was a sizzle reel shown by Weta. In this sizzle reel there were two beta level (most likely from a trailer) clips shown. One only about 6 seconds long, the other much longer.

The former was Clark Kent grabbing a truck with a crying man inside of it while flying through the middle of a tornado. It looked incredible. Henry Cavill can fly, and he can hold a truck in one arm. Zack Snyder brings his usual visual flair, but somehow is still unlike anything he has made before. It felt like a Superman comic. Real heroism.

The longer clip was even more stunning, but the more I think about it, slightly concerning. The clip consisted of Superman in full costume in a verbal argument with Zod in the center of Smallville with Christopher Meloni yells at them through a megaphone next to a tank.

Meloni warns them he will fire if they do not surrender. While he says this Zod sizes Superman up. Shannon looks evil as he can be. Bone chilling even. And is DEFINITELY sporting enhanced muscle.

Cavill’s Superman is a wonderful sight to behold in motion. Cavill’s pure size makes him the most believable Superman to date. Zod speaks in Kryptonian “Do you know your native tongue, Kal-el?” Superman looks stunned, and responds in English, “Who are you?” (there isn’t enough Superman dialogue to judge Cavill’s performance fairly, but I’d say he did well. Nothing spectacular from this clip.) Meloni curses, then into a walkie talkie orders the tank to fire.

Superman hears this and turns to the tank. Zod takes this opportunity to sucker punch Superman (in Zack Snyder slow-then-fast-mo) then when the tank fires Superman rushes in front of Zod, despite the punch and catches the exploding missile near his stomach.

The flames ripple around him, hit his face, his cape, his eyes. The shrapnel hits him and bounces off. The same happens to Zod to a lesser extent. Meloni’s shocked expression when they remain standing, silhouettes in a cloud of smoke, ends the clip.

It was incredible, it really was. And absolutely visually stunning, but my qualm is its typical Zack Snyder. It doesn’t look glossy like his films do. It instead has a more clean cut, colorful look. Like Thor, or Iron Man.

But it is the same slow-mo styling that people expect from him. Maybe it just happens in this one scene, but it happens twice. Makes me a bit hesitant, despite the fact it looks phenomenal."

Man Of Steel is released on 14 June 2013. We're looking forward to it like Krypto the Superdog looks forward to a nice walk.

ParaNorman Poster: World exclusive first look

ParaNorman Poster: World exclusive first look

16-05-2012, 21:44 Post by: suncewap

[brightcove]1542765822001[/brightcove]

ParaNorman had our hearts from its very first trailer, so we're really excited to be able to reveal the world exclusive first look at the UK poster.

Headed for our shores on 14 September, this stop-motion Shaun Of The Dead-alike follows young Norman as he attempts to save his school pals (and himself!) from the advancing hoardes of a zombie invasion.

The UK poster emphasises the action, landing us face-first into a car chase in progress; you can practically hear the the screams, screeches and undead groans.

But look closely and you'll see a nice bit of character work too - while everyone else around him has a face contorted with terror, little Norman has a calm, confident air of a true hero.

We really can't wait for this one. Check out the poster below, watch the trailer above, and tell us what you think!

Stellan Skarsgård can legitimately put 'star of billion dollar franchise' onto his CV following the success of The Avengers.

Sadly, there were too many superheroes to shove on the one-sheet of Joss Whedon's action-spectacular to find space for Skarsgård's supporting scientist.

Thankfully, Stellan's front and centre of the exclusive poster we've got our paws on.

King Of Devil's Island stars Skarsgård as the sadistic Bestyreren, the governor of island-based boys home Bastoy.

When new boy Erling (Benjamin Helstad) arrives on the island he immediately resolves to escape. But can Erling beat Bestyreren and his army of cruel guards?

King Of Devil's Island is released on 29 June in the UK.

Four minute "super preview" for The Amazing Spider-Man: watch now

Four minute "super preview" for The Amazing Spider-Man: watch now

16-05-2012, 21:44 Post by: suncewap

The Amazing Spider-Man has released what Sony are referring to as a "super preview", a four-minute trailer featuring an extended action sequence alongside a host of material cut from the existing trailers and a few new snippets for good measure.

The highlight of the new footage has to be the bridge-set action scene, in which the Lizard sends several cars hurtling over the side of a suspension bridge, only for Spidey to save the day with a few well-aimed strands of web.

However, there's a small child trapped in one of the vehicles, and it looks as though it's about to go up in smoke. Cue a hair-raising rescue attempt from an increasingly desperate-looking Spider-Man…

Take a look at the new footage below…

It's not going to please fans wanting to go into the movie fresh, but there's plenty on show here to suggest that Marc Webb's reboot will be worthy of the franchise, with Andrew Garfield's wisecracking charm offsetting the carnage nicely.

The Amazing Spider-Man opens in the UK on 4 July 2012.
